A few months ago, something Paul said has continued to stick with me. He turned his calendar to the upcoming month nearly a week before the month was up! Now generally my calendars do not get changed until at least a week into the new month. My days tend to fly and I always feel like I’m behind. Many days it seems the only thing I look forward to is getting back to bed! I tend to whittle my time away doing unimportant things, like Facebook or worrying over Christmas gifts. Then I have to rush to get the basics done and don’t make time for important things like bible study or listening to the children.
Today was no exception. I spent most of last evening working up the gumption to convince the kids to clean their toy room this morning. About an hour into the morning of whining and tattle-taling, a truck pulled in and I was informed our mule and donkey were a mile north on the road. Somehow no one was hurt, I was able to catch them and ride Rusty home with Barney following behind. I then spent the next hour fencing the fence. Paul kept an eye on his siblings, and not only was the toy room mostly cleaned, but the living room was picked up as well!
Yes I still have a lot to do, but it is important to not loose track of the important things in life. In the end the kids’ will remember the time Mommy spent with them and shared Jesus with them, not the perfect Christmas gifts. We are all healthy and the freezers will become more full with the addition of an Indiana buck! We are so grateful God has led us here and for the mild fall we have been blessed with.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
