Spring! Need I say more? The Sand hill cranes have returned, the skunks are awake, and dandelions and violets are blooming. The kids are convinced it is summer despite the frosty mornings. We enjoyed celebrating Easter with our church family and the kids played bells. We had more snow (& snow days) in April than March!
My class hatched chicks and we are making plans to bring a few home. The kids are so excited! I am glad to be done teaching for the semester and focus on things at home more fully. The plants I started in March are doing well and I’ve added a few more. I am anxious to get the garden area tilled and have visited some hoop houses with my class. Working on a plan for one in the future!
Winter in April seems longer here. Especially with the teasing 50 degree days. We would have a week of snow, then a week of meltdown and mud! We were able to ship a few loads of hay during this time. Barney and Rusty are moved back to the south barn so we don’t have to lock them in the barn while loading. Jeremy is busy tearing down and building fences.
The kids continue to do well in school, Paul was Student of the Month in February and Ruth in April! Amy is signed up for school and is anxious to join Paul and Ruth on the school bus next fall!
At times it has felt like we are a puzzle with random pieces missing. Some days it feels like we will never find all the pieces! However God is filling in any empty spots in ways only he can.
As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,[a]
make his paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
and the crooked shall become straight,
and the rough places shall become level ways,
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”
