We had one more small snow on May 15, 2016! Paul enjoyed his 10th Birthday anyway and we laughed about getting snow. Grandma came for a long visit and we enjoyed sharing our new home with her. My college class has ended and we are busy planning for a garden and animals. I brought home some of the chicks we hatched.
Jeremy has been super busy building fence and preparing for heifers once the grass is ready. He is also making the transition from agronomist to full time farmer. Paul and I have both learned to drive the skid loader to help pound posts!
By the end of the week it was in the low 70s! Plants, chicks, and kids have all been kicked outside. Jeremy and I celebrated our 16th anniversary by trying a local restaurant and doing some local exploring without the kids.
Jeremy had nearly given up on getting a turkey, when this one turned up! Paul was super excited to be along. As you can see the dandelions are doing well!
We were also able to get the garden tilled and were surprised to find it was a nice mix of sand and clay. I planted the kale, broccoli, carrots, onions, lettuce, spinach, and potatoes. The warm season plants are in my little greenhouse on the deck. I would like to have plenty for ourselves and also to sell at a local farmers market. I think I should have made the garden bigger!
